We were gifted the experience in exchange for this honest Creepy Crawlies birthday party review.
Where does the time go? Pixie recently had her third birthday *sob* and it was the first time we decided it was worth making a special effort to give her a party; the theory being that she’ll actually remember it this year. Of course, that remains to be seen…
We were delighted to team up with one of our fave local soft play venues for the occasion.
When they assured us that everything would be taken care of and we need merely to turn up, I didn’t quite believe it would be that easy, but I did get the impression it would require minimal input from us – a massive bonus at the moment.
We ordered a few bits to decorate the party room with Pixie’s chosen unicorn theme – and of course a special personalised cake.
…Which I’d decided not to mention following the debacle that became of it. And then I realised it’s the things that go…’not according to plan’ which give us memories to laugh about later, right? Not sure myself or my hubby felt that way at the time, but nonetheless I’m running with it.
Essentially, on the morning of the big day when we went to our local M&S to collect said cake, it had not arrived. Because, it transpired, it had not actually been ordered. Ahem. Never mind, Hubby (nowt to do with me), luckily we’d kept it as a surprise so she didn’t notice, and the rest of the day was perfect.
Creepy Crawlies Birthday Party Review
Incredibly, and true to their word, on our arrival there really was nothing for us to do. Unexpectedly the venue had its own selection of decorations which staff were putting the finishing touches to as we arrived. When I said I’d not realised we didn’t need to supply anything, they helped to hang our bunting to be in keeping our chosen theme.
And then our guests arrived.
The party room was the perfect size for the number of children eating (ten), plus a few parents squeezing in to take photos.
I’d already been informed of the food we could expect to be served, and being quite fussy about our children’s diets we were not disappointed.
There was the usual party food, with plenty of fresh, healthy options on offer.
The venue even supplied sparklers for Pixie’s cake!
And they made cupcakes.
They thought of everything, even including party bags in the price of the package. They cut up the big birthday cake we’d taken in for Pixie to blow out her candles, to put pieces into the bags. There’s even a ‘baby’ option available for any younger ones with age appropriate toys. And I was impressed to see that none of them contained sweets.
Once the little ones had finished eating, the staff had a novel way of coaxing them back out into the main play area:
We were seriously impressed from start to finish, mostly because the process was just made stress-Free. Right now that counts for a lot. We didn’t do much in terms of planning and preparing, and yet in the event we’d still done more than necessary.
Removing the headache of organisation is priceless for busy parents, and the price tag of £200 for two hours exclusive hire is fantastic value. (Non-exclusive hire is also available, contact the venue for details.) With food and party bags for ten children thrown in (and additional kids only £6 each) it’s a no-brainer – particularly compared to the cost of separately hiring a hall and bouncy castle, and laying on a spread and party bags. Plus it’s no hassle!
Of course, the true test is your child’s enjoyment…
We couldn’t have been more pleased when Pixie told us it was ‘the best birthday ever!’ – and here’s the proof!
Soft play is not generally my preferred place to be, but for a stress-free child’s party exclusive hire is a fantastic option.
If you’re considering hiring a local soft play venue in Essex for a child’s birthday party, I’d be more than happy to recommend Creepy Crawlies. I dare say we’ll be back ourselves for future milestones.
