[Ad] I feel like I’m starting every post with a caveat about lockdown, and while I wish it wasn’t necessary, it seems somehow disingenuous to ignore it. I’m choosing to find the positives and, as far as possible, focus on looking forwards to when things are better. Because eventually, normal life will resume, and it doesn’t hurt to lose ourselves in some light relief in the meantime. Such as the very important subject of summer swimwear. Today I’m teaming up with Protest to share their 2020 collection of cool and contemporary surf bikinis and boardshorts.
Protest are a design-led sportswear company, founded in Holland by a group of snowboard enthusiasts. Their mission is ‘to design fresh, fun, and sustainable sportswear for surfers, skiers, and boarders’ – but they also aim to inspire non-boarders alike. Their eclectic clothing range is aimed at the kind of fun crowd who love to have a go, and thrive on adventure and laughter.
Protest’s goal is to make technical, fashionable sportswear that’s both functional and accessible, from beginner to athlete, and every level in between.
The Protest Spring/Summer Swimwear Collection
The new swimwear collection has been inspired by travel around the globe. The designers at Protest have handpicked trending fabrics and fashionable details to create looks that are completely in vogue, while remaining dynamic for high-octane activity.
Some of the trends you can expect to find in Protest’s SS20 collection include:
The vibe I get from Protest’s collection is a combination of flattering vintage shapes, and quirky fun detailing. No matter your personal style, there’s something here for everyone.
A personal favourite, who doesn’t love a dress with pockets? This is a very current style, and for good reason!
A retro cut which is both stylish and flattering. Protest has combined this trend in their Special Bikini to create a bold, contemporary look which I love.
There’s no missing fun neon prints. Protest’s take is a vibrant contrast of colour – striking yet classy.
A gorgeous and more wearable alternative to lace, this embroidery technique is fresh yet feminine.
Ruched and striped, seersucker is flattering and very on trend. What’s not to love?
Tropical and exotic, combined with a cool vintage vibe. Available as recycled polyester board shorts.
A summery statement colour that pops, either alone or as a contrasting accent colour.
A classic wardrobe essential, reimagined with a loose fit and a funky vibe.
Here are some of my favourite items from their Spring/Summer 2020 range:
