[Ad] January is when I tend to cast a critical eye over my wardrobe and decide what items need replacing, or what may be lacking. It’s the ideal time due to the extensive sales and excellent discounts available.
Since I’m particularly conscious of remaining as environmentally aware as my wallet allows (and because I’m not getting any younger!), I seek out classic styles.
I know these items will remain in my wardrobe for a long time, and they’ll be worn over and over.
My everyday go-to staples vary a little according on the time on year; but, temperature allowing, I’m a huge fan of jeans with a smart shirt.
I find them to be really versatile, taking me from the school run and play days, to appointments and meetings, and even dinner.
I love that a good shirt can be dressed up or down; wear with jeans and pumps for daytime, or simply add heels and a blazer for evening wear.
This shirt-dress is a great example, and you can see the two different ways I’ve styled it to achieve completely different looks.
Jeans are another firm favourite. When I find a pair I love, I tend to wear them to death, and buy them again and again. In my experience when jeans fit like a glove, there’s nothing more comfortable.
I love this relaxed style; they look fab with a shirt, as I’m wearing here, or more casually with a cool feminist or positive slogan tee.
Finish the outfit with pumps or brogues, et voila – an easy but chic look.
I’m usually not a warm person (I mean this literally of course!) and, in the depths of winter, I really feel the cold. A big snuggly jumper is the ideal way for me to stay cosy when I’m not wearing my heated coat!
This jumper-dress is perfect; it’s lovely and soft, and has a big roll neck which mimics a scarf, without feeling suffocating.
To lift this understated jumper-dress up, I’ve selected a pair of leather-look PU leggings and heeled boots. These trousers are a great way to lift an otherwise casual ensemble.
January is notoriously dull, dreary, and looooong – but I’m making the most of it!
Some of my favourite clothes are suited to the colder months, so I’m taking full advantage while I have the opportunity. Before we know it, spring will be around the corner and I’ll be packing my cosy jumpers away for next winter.
