Breastfeeding and CMPA support is critical to new mothers persevering with nursing, especially if allergies exist.
Breastfeeding and CMPA Support

Breastfeeding your newborn is a profoundly special experience, but it can also bring many challenges – particularly if your little one shows symptoms of an allergy.
As ever, the advice given here is based upon my personal experiences and is not intended to replace the guidance of a qualified medical professional. Go here for NHS guidance.
I’ve put together a wealth of information based upon my nursing journey with both my daughters, which can be accessed below.

Allergies or no, if you’re new to this and you don’t need any kind of nursing support, then you’re rarer (and luckier!) than a unicorn.
Breastfeeding and CMPA Support For New and/or Allergy Parents
Support for breastfeeding and CMPA is vital for new mothers persevering with nursing, especially if allergies exist.
Breastfeeding Tips and Advice
Firstly, allergies or no, if you’re new to this and you don’t need any kind of nursing support, then you’re rarer (and luckier!) than a unicorn.
Unfortunately, it’s extremely common to have at least a few difficulties whilst establishing nursing, and sometimes later on too.
Check out my breastfeeding tips and advice, covering:
- How to emotionally prepare for breastfeeding,
- Nursing myths,
- Latch,
- Gaining confidence,
- Breastfeeding and baby sleep,
- And lots more.
Breastfeeding Baby to Sleep Through the Night - Sensible, or Bad Idea?
Is poor sleep inevitable when nursing? Well, again, it’s pretty common.
Many people say that breastfed babies sleep worse than bottle fed, and that’s kind of true because they do tend to wake more often (but it's not the full picture!).
But the good news is that this is because that’s what babies are designed to do – it’s a safety mechanism.
How to Get More Sleep When You're Breastfeeding - No Sleep Training!
I understand that when you’re sleep-deprived the fact that your baby's regular wake-ups are normal is unlikely to be much consolation. Being on your knees with exhaustion can be a very lonely place, even if your partner is supporting you.
If this sounds familiar, I have a really handy tip to help you get more rest whilst giving your baby what they need too.
Milk Allergy Symptoms in Babies & How to Get a Diagnosis
This was one of the most difficult times of my life for multiple reasons. It was totally draining, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I’ve tried to put my experience to good use by documenting our CMPA journey to offer support and advice to other families dealing with:
- Symptoms of allergies in babies,
- How to confirm CMPA,
- How to do the milk ladder challenge,
- And much more.
CMPA Breastfeeding Diet Tips For Mums Nursing Allergy Babies
Personally, I chose to continue nursing my daughter for the benefits it would give to her. This has several implications, and again I’ve covered everything you need to know about breastfeeding with CMPA.
It’s no mean feat, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Dairy Free Weaning For Your CMPA Baby
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and you will eventually wean your CMPA baby on to solids and off of the breast – though in my experience these two events may be a couple of years apart!
Naturally, weaning a CMPA baby is a little different to simply introducing foods to other babies, and requires lots of organisation and certain rules must be followed for the sake of your little one’s health.
This can be a tricky and stressful time. I’ve written about our journey with the intention of ‘holding your hand’ throughout the process.
I really hope the information contained here proves useful, and if you have any questions please do feel free to contact me, I’m always happy to help if I can.
Best of luck during this special time with your little one!
