Do Daily Affirmations For Women Work?

Do positive affirmations work? Yes!

Affirmations that are formatted properly and appropriately are highly successful.

Positive affirmations can work for most people, with one caveat…

For affirmations to be a positive action you can take for improved mental health and success, it’s important they’re practiced correctly. Otherwise they can have the opposite effect to what they’re supposed to achieve!

If you use affirmations that are formatted properly and appropriately, they’re highly successful. They can benefit:

  • Self-esteem
  • Self-compassion
  • Self-worth
  • Self-confidence
  • Positivity
  • Motivation
  • Happiness
  • Sense of wellbeing
  • Inner peace

While this list is not necessarily exhaustive, you may notice one glaring omission: if you’re hoping to manifest the big bucks, you’ll likely be disappointed. (If you want to know more, circle back up and read the post about confidence affirmations, which goes into this in more detail.)

What is a Positive Self Affirmation Exactly?

Affirmations are simple statements designed to affirm positive beliefs about ourselves. And there’s a massive clue in that sentence about what can stop them from working.

Practicing affirmations literally rewires the brain!

Nevertheless, having researched the topic, I’m a huge advocate because the theory of how and why affirmations can work is underpinned by science:

Practicing affirmations regularly as part of your daily routine will, over time, literally rewire your brain!

That sounds pretty compelling to me! Read more in the posts above about how affirmations work.

What Are the 3 P’s of Affirmations?

You may have heard of the 3 P’s in relation to daily affirmations. If you’re unsure what this refers to, it’s one element of the ‘rules’ (from the Law of Attraction and the Law of Vibration) which I mentioned earlier, and apply to effective affirmations.

These words describe important guidelines for creating or choosing valuable affirmations.

The 3 P’s that you should follow when practicing affirmations are:

  • Positive

It goes without saying, affirmations are intended to be positive, encouraging statements. After all, their whole purpose is to challenge negative self-talk and establish positive beliefs and thought patterns in their place.

  • Present

In order to ‘trick’ your brain into being rewired towards more useful thoughts and ultimately more positive outcomes, daily affirmations should be written in the present tense.

  • Personal

Writing statements that are personal to you is another facet of an effective affirmation.

Framing positive affirmations this way means you take responsibility for manifesting them, which is vital since other people’s actions are outside of our control.

How Do You Write Positive Affirmations That Work?

In order for affirmations to work, we must believe in their inherent truth.

Based on my research, there is another element which is critical to the success of affirmations. (Serendipitously it’s another ‘p’ word, so it should be easy to remember!) The fourth P is:

  • Plausible

In order for affirmations to have positive effects, we must believe in their inherent truth. Read more about this in the morning affirmations post.

Essentially, affirmations are designed and should be used to alter for the better – or affirm – a positive mindset, positive attitude, and positive outlook. If this is your goal, then they can almost certainly benefit and work for you.
